Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who is bright, enthusiastic, and works comfortably in a team environment.  You will prepare cost estimates from the conceptual phase through construction documents. This is a great opportunity for an entry- to mid-level estimator with an interest in federal and public sector architectural and engineering design projects. This career-track position offers numerous growth opportunities within our project management team.

Essential Functions:


  • Analyzes construction drawings and documentation in order to prepare quantity take offs and labor estimates for review by Senior Estimator


  • Assesses cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops
  • Consults with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments and construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
  • Confers with architects, engineers, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
  • Prepares estimates used by project management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work
  • Communicates in a professional and respectful manner with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources
  • Takes initiative by observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources to complete projects efficiently and accurately
  • Establishes and maintains constructive and cooperative working relationships with others
  • Communicates information and ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Identifies potential problems and brings them to the attention of the supervisor
  • Some travel may be required


    • BA or BS preferred
    • 3 to 5 years of experience required, preferably within the A/E/C government estimating industry
    • Must be a US citizen and possess, or be able to obtain/maintain a US Government security clearance
    • Cost-related certification (AACE International preferred), or the ability to obtain certification
    • Ability to learn in-house estimating programs such as On-Screen Takeoff, E-Takeoff, and Timberline
    • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
    • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, especially MS Excel
