Position Summary

Lead and manage the business development activities of branding and building teaming relationships with A/E clients and identifying project opportunities in the D.C./Maryland/Virginia region. The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Sales/Marketing Director, Proposal/Marketing Coordinators and Project Managers to define project targets; help establish winning strategies for developing and maintaining client relationships; and supporting the firm's strategic Sales and Marketing initiatives. This is a career-track position that will play a key role in supporting TCT's future growth in Colleges/Universities, K-12 Education, Government, Public Agencies and Transportation markets.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as primary point of contact for pursuit identification and capture plan development for the DC, MD and VA greater metropolitan market
  • Develops and maintains a strong and effective business network with current and prospective architectural, engineering and government clients
  • Researches and gathers information on market sectors, market trends, potential clients, upcoming project opportunities, and key competition
  • Provides input on client relationship development plans
  • Tracks and manages leads, contacts and BD opportunities via Cosential CRM database
  • Attends preproposal conferences and client meetings
  • Actively involved in professional and community organizations
  • Represents firm at tradeshows and conferences
  • Works collaboratively with Marketing staff to fulfill production needs as required
  • Assists Project Managers with client and project details to prepare fee proposals as needed
  • Willingness and ability to travel



  • BA or BS preferred
  • 5 to 8 years of experience required, preferably within the A/E/C industry
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks, communicate well with others face-to-face and on the phone, and respectfully, yet firmly push business development initiatives forward
  • A self-starter with excellent organizational abilities and who is an effective communicator and listener
  • Ability to work in a deadline- and detail-oriented environment
  • Understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and delivery methods
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
  • Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Familiarity with CRM system preferred
